APWA AccreditationThe Public Works Department utilizes a skilled, engaged workforce to enhance the quality of life for Charlotte County residents by continually improving infrastructure and providing services in a cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the community.

The Public Works Department builds and maintains roadways, bridges, navigable waterways, stormwater infrastructure, traffic lights and signs, rights-of-ways and landscaping in unincorporated areas of Charlotte County while protecting and preserving the environment.

The Department further provides solid waste management including curbside service and operation of the landfill, manages mosquito and aquatic weed control programs and operates the Indian Spring and Lieutenant Carl Bailey Cemeteries.

Charlotte County is working with its debris hauler, AshBritt, to remove debris from areas not maintained by the county, such as private roads and rights of way. All debris must be placed in the right of way per private property debris removal guidelines by Jan. 2.
